09 Jun Beating the Sunday Scaries
I often hear many people talk about “Sunday Funday” – a day to let loose and hang out with friends, savoring the last bit of the weekend. I used to envy people who could live by this motto, as I was never one of them.
I resonate more with the “Sunday Scaries,” viewing Sunday as my last day to get things done prior to the work week starting back up again. The Sunday scaries often bring anxiety about what my week has in store, making sure my house is stocked with groceries and making sure my family’s schedules are all ironed out.
If you are like me, then read below to find a few tips to turn your Sunday Scaries into Monday Motivation.
1. Plan Ahead
Don’t wait until the last minute to get everything done for the week ahead. Go grocery shopping early, make sure all your work is done prior to the sun going down, and make sure breakfast and lunch are prepped and ready to go.
By planning ahead and not procrastinating, you won’t have everything weighing on you all at once. If you get your ‘to-do’ list out of the way early, you will most likely lessen your anxiety based on the sheer fact that you have less to worry about.
2. Stay Present
Try to be in the moment and enjoy your Sunday. Often, we get so caught up in worrying about the week ahead that we forget to enjoy the present and the day we have right in front of us. Stressing about things that have yet to happen is not effective and won’t allow you to enjoy the present moment.
3. Set Yourself Up for Success
Go to bed at your normal ‘work day’ time. If you prefer to shower at night make it happen. Pick out your clothes before you get into bed if it takes you awhile in the morning. The goal is to make the transition from weekend to work week as seamless as possible.
By following these tips you should be able to lessen those Sunday Scaries and enjoy your full weekend!
